The Kook-Min Daily reported on the special event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Korea held in Washington DC on August 15.
The U.S.-based Radio Free Asia reported reported that the Lincoln Memorial event promoting a peaceful reunification of Korea, was organized by a coalition of over 30 different organizations working together under the name of the One Korea Coalition.
The event featured the signing of the Declaration for One United Korea as well as a new song about unification composed by famous composer and lyricist Kim Hyung-Suk and performed by popular singers Na YoonKwon and Yangpa.
The project hopes to involve 33 Korean singers symbolizing the 33 members of the original independence movement.
Mr. Marcus Ryu, CEO of an American IT company, and son of event co-chair, Dr. Jai Ryu, donated $600,000 to the event.
