The One Korea Global Campaign is raising public awareness and building international support for Korean reunification through the Korean Dream Challenge Bike Ride. Since 2013, young people have traveled from around the world to South Korea to participate in these bike rides and show support for the peaceful reunification of the Korean peninsula.
In 2016, Kensu Bates from the United States, joined one of the more challenging bike rides, a five-day journey from Incheon to Busan covering 393 miles or 633 kilometers. The experience left a deep impression on Kensu who has cared about Korea since. He reflected on how his team overcame the struggle to stay together during the challenging ride and shared, “I saw that what created our unity was the purpose of the bike ride, of wanting to bring Korea together and the vision of the Korean Dream.”
The next Korean Dream Challenge Bike Ride will take place in August of 2019, commemorating the 100th year anniversary of the 1919 Korean Independence Movement. Fifty participants will ride 50 kilometers from Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul to Odusan Tongil Observatory, Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi-do.
